I took my dog (Frenchie/Boston mix) here to get a large spot in his eye checked out. The ophthalmology team that saw him was spectacular. They were so sweet to my dog, so thorough and yet quick (they clearly know what they're doing), and explained everything about what turned out to be a cyst to me. Their explanation was scientific, detailed, and yet simple enough for me to understand, and reassured me that it was not a cause for concern (and explained why!). I feel like we got the best care possible and I feel confident and comfortable in understanding more about my dog's health. Thank you Penn Vet!

We went to Penn Vet after finding out our dog Fry had bone cancer in June. We couldn't have asked for a more skilled, kind, and communicative team. Everyone we encountered over the past 8 months was wonderful and treated Fry so well that he loved going to the vet to see everyone again. Thank you so much for the great care you provided him!

Penn Vet LITERALLY saved Jalen’s life, and I could not be more grateful. Jalen developed severe pneumonia as a complication from kennel cough that progressed into multiple organ system failure. His case was so complex that no one could give me a real estimate of his chance of survival, only that it was slim. Research after the fact, on my own showed that everything he went through put him at a 12% chance of survival. We were literally taking everything one hour at a time. What happened with Jalen was extraordinarily rare, occurring in less than 0.01% of dogs, and is something that rarely sees a positive outcome. Jalen was transported to Penn after developing a pneumomediastinum due to his severe pneumonia. Upon arrival, he was rushed into emergency surgery. That is when I first met with Dr Tarbutton and she explained to me the severity of the situation and was very transparent, yet empathetic the entire time. She did not make any promises but explained that despite their best doctors ready to work on him, it was an “all hands-on deck” situation. He made it through the surgery, but I was called to “say goodbye” since he required mechanical ventilation after the fact, and only 30% of dogs who go on a ventilator ever come off. I was only able to visit for a few minutes; it was the hardest almost goodbye of my life. I was able to visit Jalen daily. The Critical Care staff was so patient, understanding, and caring. They updated me by phone twice per day and were sure to explain exactly what was being done and why. They answered all my questions and never rushed or dismissed me. After 36 hours, he was able to come off the vent, defying his first set of odds! He was off the vent, but his status was guarded. He was critically ill, and the staff was careful to keep me aware that the situation was touch and go at best. I appreciated their candor, as sometimes it is easy to lose sight of how severe a situation really is. He was treated with several antibiotics, as the pne

Dr. Kim Agnello performed two hip replacement surgeries on my dog and we couldn’t be happier with her service, attention to detail, and support throughout the journey. We consider ourselves so lucky to have been in such wonderful hands. The students are lovely and took such good care of our boy. If you’re pet is with Kim, know she’ll treat them as her own.

We came here for our cat. The whole team that served us was amazing. From the front desk to to assistants to the doctor. We didnt get what we wanted to hear with our cat but they were extremely helpful and empathetic. They were so passionate about their job. You can tell they loved animals. And thats really hard to find. Dr. Holt and his assistant Toni were 2 that stood out to me. I was extremely grateful for them.

We cannot say enough good things about UPenn ER, ICU, and neurology. The staff here is beyond amazing and we will forever keep them in our hearts. Our dog was rushed to the emergency department, underwent surgery, and unfortunately, developed complications. We had to make the difficult decision to say goodbye a week after admitting him. Our week was gut wrenching, but our family went to bed each night knowing our precious pup was in the BEST hands. We had Dr. Schatz for our start in the ICU, and she was so kind, calm, and collected. Dr. Mehta, Dr. Frame and vet student Miyuka were angels. They took care of our baby and our family during the most difficult time. They went above and beyond each and every day. The communication, care, time, love, empathy, and kindness they showed us was remarkable. We hope no one ever is in this position and we pray no one ever needs UPenn for their precious pet, but there is no better place than here. Every person we met from the security staff to the front desk to doctors and medical students were so kind and helpful. We cannot recommend UPenn enough. Thank you to our amazing team for doing everything possible for our love. Thank you for doing everything you can to help my family and I remain calm and comfortable. We love you and appreciate you!

I want to sincerely thank everyone here for providing Coffee with such exceptional care and support. She was diagnosed with IVDD, and the team acted quickly to perform surgery. We drove over two hours from the city to get here, and from the moment we arrived, we felt reassured that Coffee was in the right hands. Dr. Chapman was our primary doctor and surgeon. She was incredibly informative, patient, and compassionate, and she made us feel at ease throughout the entire process. The surgery was successful, and we are hopeful to see Coffee walking on her own again soon. Dr. Chapman also remained in communication with us after the surgery, which meant so much during such a stressful time. Dr. Arendt was also extremely kind and attentive. She spoke so warmly about Coffee, and it was clear how genuinely cared for she was. That reassurance made a difficult experience much easier to navigate. We are deeply grateful to the entire team for their kindness, expertise, and, most importantly, their empathy. Thank you for taking such wonderful care of our dog. 💕

Three years, countless vet visits, chemotherapy, and a rare autoimmune disease. Rusty never stopped fighting. Never give up on your fur babies and always trust your gut. Thank you Dr. Chapman and UPenn Neurology for everything! Would not have my sweet boy here if it weren’t for you! Your pets are in the best hands here!

I cannot say enough wonderful things about the team at Penn Vet, particularly Dr. Megan Reilly, her student Amanda, and their coordinator, Patrina. My dog, Lulu, has been battling a very complex and serious medical condition, and from the moment we arrived, the entire team has treated both of us with incredible compassion, kindness, and professionalism. Dr. Reilly is exceptionally knowledgeable, dedicated, and thorough. She takes the time to carefully evaluate every aspect of Lulu's case, explain her thought process, and ensure that we understand our options. It is clear that she genuinely cares about her patients and is committed to providing the highest level of care. Amanda has been wonderful throughout this process, and Patrina has been outstanding in coordinating care, answering questions, and responding promptly to emails and concerns. Having a team that is both responsive and compassionate makes an enormous difference when you are navigating a difficult diagnosis. Caring for a very sick pet can be overwhelming and frightening, but I have felt supported every step of the way. For the first time in a long time, I feel a sense of relief knowing that Lulu is in such capable hands. I am deeply grateful for everything they have done and continue to do for Lulu. Penn Vet has exceeded my expectations, and I would highly recommend Dr. Reilly and her team to anyone seeking exceptional veterinary care.

Ryan Vet has been there for us from the start. Our pup came in for an emergency room visit and had to be transferred to internal medicine. She was cared for every step of the way, and when we could visit her, it was clear that she was also loved by her care team and loved them back. When our pup was ready for discharge, she was excited to see us, but not as relieved as she usually is to leave a vet office, I think because she was genuinely calm and happy (as much as is possible at a hospital). There was complete transparency on pricing, and estimates were conservative. On another note, we also go to Ryan for our pup’s eyes, which have glaucomas, and the ophthalmology team is amazing. I cannot recommend Ryan Vet enough.
